Microfinance India Summit 2011

Microfinance India Summit, an international event, annually organized by ACCESS, brings the sector together to identify impediments to its organised growth, analyse trends and help to construct a vision for its future growth and raises topical issues for discussion and debate. The Eighth Microfinance India Summit will be organised between December 12-13, 2011 at Hotel Ashok in New Delhi.

Summit 2011 will focus on implications of new regulation, on current trends and issues relating to transparency, client protection, and provision of remittance services, micro housing, micro insurance, impact assessment of microfinance and renew focus on Self Help Groups as means of social empowerment and for delivery of financial services.

The Summit will feature plenary sessions on:

o    SHG Version 2: The New Surge
o    Microfinance in a Regulatory Regime: What will change?
o    Responsible Finance
o    National Rural Livelihoods Mission – Structures for Financial Intermediation
o    Aadhar - The basis of Financial Inclusion (session on the Universal Identification Scheme)
 

The Summit is also a platform for release of important sectoral documents. As per convention, State of the sector Report on Microfinance 2011 will be released on the inaugural day. We will also release the following additional reports and design sessions based on research studies to guide discussions at the Summit 2011 with sound data and analysis:

o   Microfinance India Social Performance Report – The Report is envisaged as an annual publication, on the lines of the State of the Sector Report, that will collate and present comprehensive research based analysis and documentation of Social Performance data and initiatives on social performance of microfinance players in the country
o   Two Decades of Self Help Groups in Microfinance: Time for a New Direction? – The Report will undertake a comprehensive stocktaking accomplishments and shortcomings of SHGs and community institutions built upon them; and to plot their progress alongside global developments in the field of microfinance and other developmental initiatives.
